247Sports' Josh Pate high on Florida State football's potential as a program
Florida State football has certainly been an improved product on the football field over the past two seasons. As a result, the college football media has started to take notice of what the Seminoles have accomplished.
Sure... the likes of Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Oregon, etc. are still out there in the college football landscape. Those programs are likely not going away.
247Sports' Josh Pate dropped his college football top fifteen programs over the next three seasons and Florida State made the list.
Florida State was a bit rocky during the 2020 and 2021 seasons under the guidance of head football coach Mike Norvell. It would have been easy to give up on the program after the historic loss to FCS opponent Jacksonville State.
However, you have to give props to the administration for trusting the process in what the program was capable of. Over the past two seasons, the Seminoles have a combined 23-4 record. The standard of Florida State is beginning to climb. The important aspect now is sustainable success.
Florida State fans should know better than anyone. Winning championships is difficult. Even as great as former head football coach Bobby Bowden was (Rest in Peace to the legend), he only won two national championships. There were some tough breaks that the Seminoles endured and the program would have won more if it had a College Football Playoff.
Nonetheless, the Vegas win total this season is set for 9.5 for Florida State in 2024. With only 58% returning production from a season ago, the Seminoles have their work cut out for them.
Programs such as Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State have been more successful recently but don't be surprised if Florida State makes a run becoming a staple at the college football elite especially with a new conference change (*pretty please with a cherry on top*).
Recruiting itself has improved every year where Florida State finished with the 12th-best recruiting class. The Seminoles could be in line for a top-ten ranking in the 2025 cycle. That will most likely set the program up for a high level of success.
It is easy to see why the public is high on the Seminoles' potential as a program over the next three years. Buckle up Florida State football fans, it will be an exciting time!
