Florida State football did not take long to add another commitment in their 2026 recruiting class as four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters from Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida pledged to the program on Tuesday afternoon.

This became a great indicator that it could happen after On3's Steve Wiltfong put in an expert prediction in favor of the Seminoles for Waters. The talented defensive back attended Florida State's Spring Showcase this past Saturday.

While I understand that the defender is a part of the 2026 recruiting cycle, fans should still be excited that the coaching staff acquired such a talented prospect at a position that the Seminoles heavily utilize in their 4-2-5 defensive scheme.

The Seffner native is a lengthy cornerback who is listed at 6'2" and 170 pounds. Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. should have fun with developing the talented prospect. He had offers from schools such as USC, Texas A&M, Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame, Florida, Colorado, and Tennessee.

This is now the fourth commitment in the Seminoles' 2026 recruiting class. The coaching staff is looking to find its rhythm when it comes to securing prospects. Florida State now needs to acquire prospects in the 2025 cycle since they have eight months remaining before the Early Signing Period.

The program is reaching new heights as they have combined to have a 23-4 record over the past two seasons. It is great to see highly-touted prospects gravitate towards the program as they look to build upon the future foundation and bring Florida State another championship.

In the meantime, head football coach Mike Norvell wants to continue finding the right fit for Florida State as they emphasize culture as well as skill set. The future is bright in Tallahassee as the program continue its winning ways while the arch-rival Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes continue to struggle.
