FSU football had 10 players selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. That won't be the case after a 2-10 season, but FSU will have at least two players drafted without question.
Azareya'h Thomas and Joshua Farmer will anticipate hearing their names called between the first and third rounds.
Thomas could squeeze into the back of the first round, and Farmer will go no later than the third round. FSU kicking specialist Ryan Fitzgerald got an NFL Combine invite and might hear his name at some point.
One player who didn't receive an NFL Combine invite was former cornerback Fentrell Cypress. The former All-ACC selection in 2022 and 2023 saw his season end due to an injury late in the 2024 season.
Cypress had started all nine games before the injury and had 27 tackles and a team-high five pass breakups. Cypress has solid size and length at 6'0" and 185 pounds. He also has underrated athleticism and speed, as indicated by his performance at FSU's Pro Day.
Cypress struggled initially in Adam Fuller's press man coverage scheme after playing in more of a zone scheme with Virginia.
However, the experience in both systems should make Cypress more valuable to teams. He's not a guy with dominant ball skills, but he excels at stopping completions when he's at his best.
NFL.com's Chad Reuter has Cypress joining former teammate Jordan Travis with the New York Jets as a sixth-round selection. A player like Cypress would be an absolute steal. However, it might be better for Cypress to not get drafted that late and sign as an undrafted free agent (UDFA).
Players who go undrafted can choose the team offering the best situation and money, whereas players drafted late don't have the option to sign or not. It's crazy to think FSU could have four players drafted from a team that went 2-10.
