FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Florida State football is listed as the 14th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. The fan base wants to see the program elevate to the top ten of the rankings, but it has been a struggle to do so under the guidance of head football coach Mike Norvell.

This isn't suggesting that Coach Norvell cannot recruit because many highly-touted prospects have shown interest in the Seminoles. They just have to find effective methods for closing out the recruitments. Plus, Florida State isn't meant for everyone.

The fan base has PTSD from the Travis Hunter and KJ Bolden situations, where individuals don't even care about these high schoolers anymore. However, the Seminoles are currently sitting with a 2-0 record and the talented recruits are taking notice.

JAY TIMMONS

Defensive backs coaches Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper have done a tremendous job with recruiting their position group, but there is a prospect that could be looking elsewhere, as four-star Jay Timmons was recently offered by the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Timmons is a legacy recruit, as his father played linebacker for the Seminoles from 2004-2006. The coaching staff and fan base would hate to lose such a talented prospect to a program that has zero ties with it, but the Buckeyes recruit at a high level and have been a consistent product.

The alarms go off in the Seminole fans' minds all the time. However, this should not be a time to panic over Timmons sharing his offer with Ohio State. If he visited multiple times, then the concern would be more understanding. However, Timmons should be locked into his commitment.
