Norvell on FSU football's 2025 outlook: "Don't talk about it, just go do it!"

Norvell is tired of the talking.

FSU FOOTBALL

Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell met with various media members at the ACC Kickoff press conferences. A part of me thought that Coach Norvell would be a bit reserved, but he was fired up as he was addressing everyone.

Coach Norvell better watch out before I go there and put on the garnet and gold—some of the quotes that he said will make you run through a wall for him.

With that said, he mentioned the team's attitude going into the 2025 season by stating the following: "Don't talk about it, just go do it!"

We saw a squad last year that was so focused on proving the doubters wrong after being snubbed in the College Football Playoff by a one-loss Alabama team. The disrespect was felt amongst the entire program. However, if the 2-10 record taught Norvell anything, it was to allow his players to go play the game.

I get that quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos is a confident player. I love that about him, but I know that his comments about Alabama with not having Nick Saban to save them, were something that the fan base wishes he had never said.

I don't have a problem with the quotation, but I realize the dangers that it could cause perception for the team. I know that Alabama doesn't have to have bulletin board material because the Crimson Tide had a disappointing season themselves and should be focused on getting better.

However, Norvell just wants his players to go do it. As a wise man once said, "Actions speak louder than words". This is a Florida State football team that has flaws, as they possess a 6.5 over/under win total for the 2025 season, but want to turn the page into something special.

I am excited for the progression of Florida State in 2025, and I cannot wait to see how they respond.
