This could be someone that the Seminoles could build around.

Florida State made a splash this offseason, where they fired offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins and hired offensive line coach Herb Hand. This was important because Coach Hand has had experience at the Power Four level as an assistant coach.

One of the biggest downsides to Coach Atkins during his time in Tallahassee was that he relied heavily on the transfer portal instead of playing the recruits that he brought in. The offensive line has been a mess for Florida State for quite some time.

When Herb Hand was hired this past offseason, he had to bring in several transfers and implemented four of them into the starting lineup. This unit surprisingly had a big turn around from where they were in the 2024 season. While it wasn't hard to do, given the squad went 2-10, some progress is better than no progress.

The Seminoles will possibly have to rely on youngsters in the rotation during the 2026 season, such as Sandman Thompson, Andre Otto, Lucas Simmons, and Jonathan Daniels. However, the offseason will be key for their development.

Florida State still has to develop the depth in the rotation for the future, and they added another recruit to the 2026 recruiting class that could help with three-star JUCO offensive lineman Steven Moore from Garden City Commity College.

He is listed at 6'5" and 320 pounds, and a common theme for Coach Hand and this staff is that they love to grab physical offensive linemen that can move opposing players around. While the fan base won't jump out of their seats for the three-star JUCO product, it is needed to continue stacking talent in the trenches.
