Florida State is looking to add more recruits to the 2027 class, as they currently have 13 total players who have committed to the Seminoles. They have three four-star players slated to come in for the 2027 class, and next weekend, they have a chance to add another.
Chad Simmons of Rivals confirmed that four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole is down to Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida State. He's expected to make his decision on July 17, and his comments show the Seminoles have a real shot of landing him.
"All three schools have a lot that I like. I have had each high on my list for a long time. It is not an easy decision."
Considering his choice isn't finalized, it likely gives Florida State a better chance of getting him to the university, especially since Georgia and Tennessee are in better shape as football programs.
Florida State's hopes aren't over as Ta’Shawn Poole nears commitment
The Volunteers have turned this around under Josh Heupel, as they've posted five straight winning seasons under his watch. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have been a powerhouse under Kirby Smart. They definitely have an edge over the Seminoles, but all hope isn't lost.
Florida State has clearly done a great job in this process of crafting a plan and vision for Poole that he believes in. And if they can close the door, that would be a massive win for the program and give them their highest recruit of this cycle.
Per 247Sports, Poole is the 85th-ranked player in the 2027 class and fourth overall safety nationally. He stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds, giving him the physical profile that schools dream of at the position.
What makes Poole interesting is his versatility. He can line up at both safety spots while also offering the skill set to line up in the slot. His range and physicality jump out, and he will be a chess piece for whatever defense he lands on.
With the Seminoles needing a revamp as they look to flip things around in Tallahassee, this would be a great addition. Jemari Foreman, a three-star safety from Boca Raton, FL, is another safety who has already committed to the 2027 class.
The idea of Foreman and Poole coming in to help turn things is an interesting idea and gives this team some hope for the future. It'll also show that the Seminoles could still pull some top recruits and get them to come down to Florida State.
Things obviously won't be easy for them, but they are among the finalists. All you need is a shot, and that's what they have here. Whether or not they close the door remains the biggest question. They need to make sure they pull all the stops over the next week to get the deal across the finish line, and if so, it'll be the biggest get for them in this recruiting class.
