There were very few concerns for FSU after Saturday's dominating 77-3 win over East Texas A&M, but there were a couple of injuries to take note of.

Defensive lineman James Williams and wide receiver Squirrel White were both removed from the game in the first half. Both players were taken to the locker room and White returned with a brace on his hand.

The good news is Mike Norvell doesn't seem worried about either player's long-term prospects.

"I feel good about where we are right now. I don't know if anybody is absolutely out for the next game. So we'll see," Norvell said. "I'll know more, probably getting into next week. But nothing coming out of that game was long term that we're worried about."

In the past, Norvell has been notoriously vague when it comes to injuries, so it wouldn't shock me if neither Williams nor White played against Kent State. For starters, it's a very weak opponent coming out of the bye week; the Golden Flashes are arguably the worst team in FBS football. And with the Seminoles having a short week heading into their first road game (and first conference game) against Virginia on the 26th, the extra time off might be beneficial for both players.

Enjoying a healthy new start

White dealt with all kinds of injuries last season at Tennessee, and it was the primary cause of his drop in his numbers from 2023 to 2024. The expected drop on the depth chart at Tennessee and the opportunity for a fresh start is what led White to FSU.

"The main thing is, I would be the 2 [wide receiver] here, meaning I would be getting a lot of touches. That's something I was big on," White told Chris Nee of 247Sports back in January, "That's the reason I mainly got into the portal. Feeling like I could be utilized with that and being able to get the ball in my hands."

Now healthy, White has already established himself as a deep threat in the passing game and the top punt returner. He showed his big-play ability on the first offensive series of the season with a 41-yard catch that led to FSU's first touchdown against Alabama.
