Mike Norvell makes massive move firing Alex Atkins, Adam Fuller, and Ron Dugans
By Kelvin Hunt
It took six consecutive losses and the worst FSU offense in history, but Mike Norvell has finally seen enough.
Norvell fired FSU offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins, FSU Defensive Coordinator Adam Fuller, and FSU Wide Receiver Coach Ron Dugans Sunday evening, according to multiple reports.
These were the three coaches I mentioned who needed to get fired after the embarrassing loss against North Carolina last week. I wrote about who on the staff could fill those positions to finish the season here.
FSU fans have been foaming at the mouth for Mike Norvell to take action. Here's how the fans reacted on social media:
Fan Reactions
Many fans and some people who cover the program didn't think Mike Norvell had it in him to make massive changes, but I tweeted after the loss against Boston College they had to happen:
I never thought FSU would get to 1-9 bad and have to make changes before the season ended. However, it was clear they'd have to make changes merely from a recruiting standpoint. Mike Norvell would never recruit at the level needed at FSU to meet the standard with these same guys.
Teams like Miami and others would use the opportunity to negatively recruit against this staff, the same way they did in the first few years before FSU had success in 2022-23.
I think we'll see more changes after the season, but this is a start for Mike Norvell to reset things and make some elite hires to get FSU back among the top teams in short order.
