This is a good sign for Florida State's defensive backfield.

Florida State football comes into the offseason with yet another losing season. The fan base is getting fed up with losing, and the program now has six losing seasons in eight years. While it should be noted that I support head coach Mike Norvell, I realize that there is a standard of competing for championships here with the Seminoles.

Norvell has been firmly on the hot seat lists of many analysts across the country, but he cannot worry about it. He has to find a way to acquire more players for the roster and add coaches to the staff. However, it can be frustrating to have a complete overhaul year after year.

The Seminoles are currently in spring practices this week, after taking last week off due to having Spring Break. Florida State still has plenty of position battles that need to be addressed before the Seminoles can prove the doubters wrong in 2026.

Cornerback Nehemiah Chandler has impressed head coach Mike Norvell in spring practices

Florida State had numerous transfers sign with the university, and it is difficult for the fan base to keep up with because of all the new faces. That is the landscape of college football nowadays.

When evaluating the transfer portal, individuals didn't think that they had to pursue defensive backs. However, the coaching staff thought that they needed to add to the roster. When head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon, he raved about former South Alabama cornerback transfer Nehemiah Chandler.

He mentioned that Chandler has been really good and that he likes what he has seen from him. Norvell describes the standout cornerback as a good cover guy, and his confidence is growing. The expectation is for the redshirt sophomore to compete for reps alongside Ja'Bril Rawls at the cornerback position.
