Mike Norvell could be closing on a big-time EDGE addition to FSU's 2026 class

If we're still talking about FSU recruiting, it's probably going to focus around finding an edge rusher.

The Seminoles really need an edge rusher in the class. It's almost a given that if the staff can land one at this stage, he'll probably need a year or two development, which means FSU will be looking at finding one in the transfer portal for immediate help. But even with that being the case for the near future, the Seminoles have to restock the cupboard at pass rusher.

Good news is FSU is in the top 3 for Atlanta-area prospect Chris Carbin.

Carbin, a former Georgia Tech commit, has been a longtime target for the Seminoles at the position and is the player they've put the most effort into recruiting. For a while, it looked like Carbin would surely flip to FSU, but as the losses have piled up, so has his interest in other programs.

The good news is that potential spoilers Michigan and Tennessee are out of the picture and Auburn has as tenuous a head coaching situation as FSU right now. So it feels like he's either heading to Tallahassee or sticking with his original commitment.

Is there potentially a new EDGE on the board?

Yes, there is a new name to keep an eye on. In-state prospect Michael Harris doesn't have an FSU offer yet, but there is a chance that he'll be on campus this weekend or the Virginia Tech weekend for the staff to give him a good look.

Harris, who plays at South Dade in Homestead, is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound athlete who plays both wide receiver and rush end for his high school. I don't think Harris' recruitment would affect their standing with Carbin either way. He is viewed right now as more of a raw talent that has some intriguing upside based on his athleticism and length.

The Seminoles are also staying in the picture for Syracuse commit Kamron Wilson and USF commit Jaemin Pinckney, but for now it appears like Carbin is the primary target and has the full focus of the staff.
