Florida State football is entering the offseason, where the fan base is dreading the year after coming off yet another losing season. This isn't the expectation at a proud place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built.

The Seminoles finished with a 5-7 record last season, which isn't something that the fan base thought would happen after beating Alabama in the opener. Florida State is starving for success, as the program has had six losing seasons in eight years.

Individuals love talking about the quarterback battle between Ashton Daniels and Kevin Sperry (and maybe even Malachi Marshall). It is understandable, even though it should be obvious that Daniels is likely the favorite to start.

Ashton Daniels showed promise at times when he played with the Auburn Tigers last year, but the playmakers have to make sensational plays if the football gets in their hands.

The wide receiver position is stacked for Florida State this season

Florida State got a huge update as big-bodied Duce Robinson elected to return for the 2026 season, after having over 50 catches for 1,000+ yards and six touchdowns during last year. The former USC transfer showed that he had the skill set to be dominant at times.

Robinson was limited in camp because Mike Norvell wanted to see other pass catchers get involved, which was smart. However, contributor Micahi Danzy was busy with track, and Jayvan Boggs was out for the remainder of the spring with an injury. Plus, Lawayne McCoy transferred over to Louisville earlier.

As a result, youngsters Devin Carter, Jasen Lopez, Tae'Shaun Gelsey, Teriq Mallory, EJ White, and Darryon Williams have had their times to shine. Devin Carter, son of former Florida State running back Dexter Carter, has continued to show why he is expected to be a huge contributor in the rotation as a true freshman. Carter is playing above his years and looks to be a spark plug in the slot and outside.
