Florida State sports continue to deliver heartbreaking moments to Miami.

Let me start by saying that this is a Florida State-based site, where we love the Seminoles and dislike the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators. Anything orange makes me want to throw up.

It is just something about that program down in Coral Gables that just doesn't sit well with me. Nonetheless, Florida State baseball defeated the Miami Hurricanes last night in baseball by a score of 7-6 after the Seminoles trailed 6-1 going into the eighth inning. This was a massive choke job by the Hurricanes.

Enjoy this highlight of Florida State's Brayden Dowd having a walk-off walk to win against Miami in a pivotal Game 1 of the series.

This got the hamster wheels turning for me, where I figured that I would reminisce on Florida State's game-winning moments against Miami lately. Maybe this can make your Friday just a little bit better, as we cruise into the weekend.

Florida State football's 4th and 14 moment (2021)

Florida State football didn't have the season that it wanted in 2021, as it lost to FCS opponent Jacksonville State at home earlier in the year in heartbreaking fashion. The fan base already lost hope in what the season was, but the squad kept fighting. They had to play a Miami team at home to avoid losing bowl eligibility.

Many didn't expect Florida State to win, especially when their backs were against the wall on fourth down and 14 at the 25-yard line with the game on the line. However, former quarterback Jordan Travis found wide receiver Andrew Parchment in the middle of the field, and the rest was history.

Florida State men's basketball Matthew Cleveland game-winner (2023)

The Florida State men's basketball program hasn't had much success over the past couple of years, but they always seem to find a way to beat the Miami Hurricanes, even when they are a good program. It is a very strange phenomenon that no one can explain.

The Seminoles were down by 23 points at halftime on the road against Miami, and they showed the unconquered spirit of what Florida State is all about. The Hurricanes were a top-25 opponent and Florida State's Matthew Cleveland drills a game-winning three-point shot at the buzzer to give the Seminoles the 85-84 win. It is so ironic that Cleveland celebrated by doing the U down celebration, just to eventually transfer to the Hurricanes. What a time to be alive!

Florida State women's basketball Makayla Timpson game-winning layup (2025)

Florida State women's basketball also got in on the fun of hitting game-winners in that awful environment of Coral Gables, Florida (Thinking about all of those Seminole fans living down there). The Seminoles were clearly the better team heading into the matchup, at a 19-6 overall record.

Guard O'Mariah Gordon was the highlight of the game with a team-high 34 points. She was going to the basket at will, but when the game was on the line, they turned to forward Makayla Timpson to get the game-winning layup with three seconds left to go on the clock.
