There haven't been many brighter spots than Mandrell Desir for FSU football this season. The true freshman from Miami was an under-the-radar recruit when he and his twin brother Darryll committed to FSU, flipping from UCF.
Both Desir twins came into the season with some fanfare after coaches raved about them during training camp. They have both had their moments, but Mandrell Desir has become a major cog in the Seminoles' defense and appears on his way to becoming a freshman All-American.
That's why FSU fans are excited to hear that Mandrell Desir loves being a Seminole.

Desir loves the atmosphere at Doak
One of the things that's stuck out over the past few games is that, despite the Seminoles' frustrating season, the fans have shown up for the home games and brought the energy. Desir mentioned this during his Monday media session.
"“Playing at Doak,...it’s a blessing. I actually love it here. I don’t think I ever want to leave, honestly.”"Mandrell Desir
With roster retention a major part of the year-to-year success, having young players that genuinely love where they are helps tremendously. The Desir twins will have no lack of options once this season ends. Young linemen that are basically plug & play guys are worth their weight in gold. Mandrell Desir's happiness is likely going to give FSU a major advantage.
Is this Norvell's best HS recruit ever?
There's an argument that after one season, Mandrell Desir could be considered Norvell's best high school recruit in his six-year tenure. The current standard is probably Azareye'h Thomas, who came to FSU from Niceville and worked his way into being a third-round pick with the New York Jets.
The upside that Mandrell Desir possesses feels like he's first-round material in the next year or two. He's a big, young, strong athlete that can get to the quarterback. That's what every NFL team is looking for. And the great thing is, Desir, by his own admission, doesn't believe he's scratched the surface of his potential yet.

"I definitely feel like I can do way better. I definitely left a lot of sacks out there. Most of the games I've gotten sacks, I could've gotten 2–3 sacks. It's all about getting better," Desir said.
