Florida State has had an impressive 2025 recruiting class with several high schoolers in the mix. I know that a ton of attention is on the Seminoles' efforts in the transfer portal, but they also have to build for the future of the program.
Florida State ranks as the 21st-best recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. However, the Seminoles are not finished yet as they have other prospects on their mind as they look to make a difference in the eyes of talented high schoolers.
One name to focus on is Class of 2025 defensive back Antonio Cromartie Jr. from Carrollton, Georgia. He is the son of former Florida State defensive back Antonio Cromartie, who played with the Seminoles in the early 2000s.
The Seminoles are known for securing legacy recruits over the past couple of years. It was thought that Cromartie Jr. would be a developmental project as he was still growing into his body. However, the defensive back is now 5'11" and still growing as we speak.
With the new ruling of teams having a 105-man scholarship, this allows Florida State to potentially take a chance on Cromartie Jr.
According to a report from On3's Steve Wiltfong, he reported that Cromartie Jr. would be taking an official visit to Florida State from January 10-12. He already has a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Seminoles from Noles247's Zach Blostein.
Cromartie Jr. had a solid 2024 campaign at Carrollton High School where he recorded 85 tackles, interceptions, four pass breakups, and four forced fumbles. I wonder if the Seminoles would give him the green light to commit on his official visit before he signs in February.
Florida State already has a solid haul in the defensive back room with signees such as four-star Gregory Thomas, four-star Shamar Arnoux, and three-star Max Redmon.
