You knew the Sunshine Scooter would save a final superdog for his alma mater.

Lee Corso, in his final ESPN College Gameday, picked FSU to be his superdog. The Seminoles are 14.5-point home underdogs to Alabama,

"Florida State is my school! How am I going to pick against them?," Corso said. "Florida State upsets Alabama."

Corso was a multi-sport star at FSU from 1953-1957 playing football and baseball. He set the school record with 14 career interceptions, which stood until 1979 when Monk Bonasorte broke it.

Unfortunately, no one else on the panel shared Corso's sentiments, although Kirk Herbstreit did say he expected FSU to play hard and keep the game close.

Castellanos' comments keep them talking

There was plenty of good conversation about the game, much of it centered on Thomas Castellanos and his comments about Alabama from the offseason. Herbstreit said this was the game he was most excited about because of those comments.

"Maybe [FSU] will go out there and shock the world. It's a different team, it's not last year's team, but how do you handle that if you're Kalen DeBoer?," Herbstreit said. "[Castellanos] basically comes out and basically challenges your manhood, do you ignore that or do you use that [as motivation]."

Nick Saban talked about FSU's heavy portal usage this offseason and how much more difficult it is to prepare for a team with a completely different look.

"Florida State has 13 or 14 starters out of the portal. Plus, they have a new offensive coordinator and a new defensive coordinator," Saban added. "So, for a first game, this is always a difficult preparation, but this is especially a difficult one based on all the changes.

McAfee talked about the overhauled FSU offensive line and how quickly it can come together.

"He invested in five new offensive linemen in the transfer portal. How quickly Florida State's offensive line can come together, big part of the story."
