Florida State football will likely be looking for another wide receiver to add to its rotation. The Seminoles likely learned their lesson from last year when they added Alabama's Malik Benson (who is now at Oregon) and LSU's Jalen Brown (who is still on the current roster), where neither had much production at their previous stops.
I am not ready to give up on Brown just yet, but it was deflating to see the offense struggle as much as it did last year with no signs of improvement or growth. This is a pivotal offseason for head football coach Mike Norvell and the coaching staff to add the right pieces on offense.
The Seminoles have made contact with Illinois State redshirt sophomore wide receiver Xavier Loyd, who entered the transfer portal recently. The program saw JUCO Jordan Scott and Hykeem Williams leave, so the void has to be filled at the position.
Loyd redshirted during the 2023 season, but had a stellar campaign in 2024, where he recorded 66 receptions for 912 yards and six touchdowns. The pass catcher had four catches and 53 yards in the opener versus Division I opponent Iowa and then had three receptions for 52 yards against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State.
Loyd is listed at 6'2" and 195 pounds and is from Blue Springs, Missouri. I assume that the Seminoles will have plenty of teams vying for his services, but he would be an excellent addition with the other transfer options, such as USC's Duce Robinson and Tennessee's Squirrel White, that are already on the roster.
While I am extremely high on the ability of former four-star prospect Jayvan Boggs, he is a true freshman who still needs to get acclimated to the collegiate level. It is always wise to add as many playmakers as you can in an offense (see 2023 FSU, for example).
Teams such as Missouri and Oklahoma would be whom I would monitor in the recruitment besides Florida State.
