HATERS GONNA HATE
Let me start by saying that I believe the College Football Playoff is an absolute joke. I am not going to put my conspiracy hat on and say that ESPN is out to get Florida State football, but it has been disappointing that the Seminoles have been slapped in the face with disrespect from appearing in the invitational for 2014 (mis-seeded) and 2023 (the snub).
I don't care what ESPN, Paul Finebaum, Greg McElroy, or anyone else has to say. I just want Florida State football to compete for conference and national championships again. The 2-10 record put a dagger in my heart, where I became numb with the losses, even with being a diehard fan.
The College Football Playoff is constantly changing. It was in a 4-team format, and then they tried a 12-team template last year, which some individuals didn't like with all of the blowouts that they had.
STRAIGHT SEEDING IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF
Nonetheless, on Thursday afternoon, ESPN reported that the CFP will have a straight seeding model that will take effect this season. I thought being conference champ and getting an automatic bye was weird, but this straight seeding format likely favors the SEC and Big Ten.
I cannot wait until eight of the twelve teams in the playoffs are from the two conferences to further bring institutions from other leagues into a financial bind from a revenue perspective.
SENSE OF URGENCY FOR FSU FOOTBALL
I know that the buyout amount for the ACC diminishes each season for Florida State football, but the new College Football Playoff format continues to express the fact that the Seminoles need to tread wisely as they navigate the new landscape of college football and find the most beneficial spot for them to be successful.
I hope that Florida State can get back to being involved in the College Football Playoff shortly.
