Jonah Winston's Seminoles jersey will never not be strange without No. 5 on it

Florida State football won its last national championship back in 2013 when quarterback Jameis Winston was under center. It is crazy to think that was thirteen years ago.

Gosh, where has the time gone?

Nonetheless, it should make Seminole fans feel old that Jameis Winston's younger brother (Jonah) is now a current wide receiver for Florida State. The younger Winston was a former three-star prospect from Hoover, Alabama. He is a 5'9" shifty pass catcher that the coaching staff can move anywhere in the offense.

Jonah Winston is ready to create his own legacy in Tallahassee

Jonah Winston is his own person, and I hope that he creates a lasting legacy in Tallahassee without the title of just being Jameis Winston's younger brother. However, that is what fans know him as right now.

Jonah Winston released his jersey number on his Instagram account, and I am sad to report that he will not be wearing No. 5 as his brother did. Instead, he will be wearing No. 81.

Ironically, Jonah Winston is wearing No. 81, which was worn by former wide receiver Kenny Shaw during Jameis Winston's time. Kenny "Raw" Shaw was a dynamic pass catcher during the 2013 campaign. Plenty of attention was brought to wide receivers like Kelvin Benjamin and Rashad Greene.

However, Shaw was electric in his own way, where he recorded 54 receptions for 933 yards and six touchdowns during that national championship season (according to sport-reference.com). He only had two catches for 4 yards in the championship game against Auburn, but Shaw did have an impact in Jameis Winston's first start against Pittsburgh, where he had four receptions for 94 yards.

Jonah Winston has grown as a wide receiver and racked up 53 receptions for 625 yards and four touchdowns during his senior year at Hoover High School (according to MaxPreps). Winston isn't a stranger to making plays in the open field.
