Florida State softball (40-7, 15-3 ACC) overcame a leadoff home run from the rival Florida Gators to get a massive 3-1 win during its White Out game. Isa Torres led off the bottom half of the first inning with a solo home run and hit another solo shot in the bottom of the third for the eventual winning run.

Shelby McKenzie hit an RBI single to score Kennedy Harp for an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth. McKenzie and Torres were the only hitters with two hits. FSU batters didn’t strike out once and walked four times with eight hits.

Jazzy Francik and Ashtyn Danley combined to allow seven hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Florida threatened several times, and two massive double playes helped stave off the Gators as they were looking to mount some offense.

Big time performances all the way around for the Noles!

The win will help shake a narrative that had formed around the team this year regarding their schedule. Florida State went into Wednesday's game with one win against a ranked opponent, and all seven losses coming against ranked teams, including four against teams ranked inside the top 10.

Florida State will not face another ranked team on its ACC schedule, so getting that win against Florida was massive for its RPI. They will travel to face the Gators again in a few days, and another win would likely solidify hosting a regional unless they flop terribly over the next two ACC series.

The teams has played better and more loose since getting swept by Stanford the other week. The pitchers have limited their walks, and the offense has scored just enough to give them a larger margin of error. They seem to be peaking at the right time, which is a testament to the job Lonni Alameda has done with such a young group!

They will travel to Georgia Tech this weekend for a three-game series.
