One of the most important things we’ve talked about going into the season is depth at certain positions for FSU football. We breathed a sigh of relief that FSU was relatively healthy going into the Virginia and Miami games.
However, a few injuries have started to make their mark, with some names showing up on the initial Student-Athlete Availability report. Those players are below:
Out (Not Playing)
- Kam Davis
- Gavin Blackwell
- Deomontae Diggs
- Quindarrius Jones
- Gavin Markey
- Chase Loftin
- Ethan Pritchard
The only guy that could be considered somewhat of a difference-maker on that list is Quindarrius Jones. Mike Norvell loves him, but he hasn’t exactly been a top defensive back for the Noles. It might be a good thing to see some of the young guys in the lineup.
Questionable (Uncertain, Less Than 50 percent chance to play)
- Squirrel White
- Randy Pittman Jr.
- Jayvan Boggs
- Ashlynd Barker
- Caleb LaVallee
- Micah Pettus
This isn't good when five of the six guys listes is a starter, or has started games this season. That's three of your better receiving target potentially not playing or playing very limited. If Pittman misses the game, that likely means that Amaree Williams will play more offense than defense, and the defense might need him more. Barker missed last game at safety and it was noticeable.
Pettus left the Miami game with an injury and his absensce was noticed immediately when they moved Adrian Medley out to tackle. FSU managed to hold up decently against a Miami defense that's likely better overall than Pittsburgh.
Pitt will be a physical game, so it'll be imperative for FSU to come out of that game without any more guys ending up on this questionable or out list.
