It hadn't been the best weekend for FSU in terms of linebacker recruiting. The Seminoles lost out to Colorado on top target Rodney Colton Jr., and seem to be fading in the recruitment for DQ Forkpa.
But not all the news was bad, as three-star in-state linebacker Karon Maycock reassured the FSU staff that he was a solid member of the 2026 recruiting class.

Maycock took OVs to Florida, Alabama and Syracuse in June but is now locked in with the 'Noles.

If there was one member of the class that Seminole fans seemed to be worried about, it was the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder from Miami Central High School. He made a verbal pledge to FSU back in February, but made it clear that he was going to take some official visits.
Maycock ended up visiting Florida, Syracuse and Alabama. There were times over the past month when it looked like the Gators or the Crimson Tide could make the flip, but Maycock did not waver and, in the end, he will join three-star prospect Noah LaVallee in the Seminoles' linebacker class.
FSU still in the hunt for elite LB prospect committed to SEC program
With Colton's decision in the rearview mirror, FSU is still in search of another linebacker to add to the class and the staff is eyeing in-state prospect Iyazia Williams. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder is currently committed to Ole Miss, but it's safe to say that Williams can be swayed.
Williams had previously committed to Florida during this cycle and backed off less than two months later. Since making a pledge to Ole Miss, Williams has taken official visits to Penn State, Georgia and Colorado.
FSU is viewing Williams as an open prospect and his recruitment could last well into the season. Expect the Seminoles staff to begin aggressively pursuing him as the regular season gets later into the fall months.
