November 18, 2023...
This was the last day that legendary quarterback Jordan Travis took a snap in the garnet and gold. Florida State was playing North Alabama once it faced off against the arch-rival Florida Gators on the road.
It was Senior Night in Doak Campbell Stadium.
This was supposed to be a celebration moment for many Seminole fans, but it became a nightmare that individuals wished would never have happened.
The Seminoles struggled out of the gate versus North Alabama, where they were down by a score of 13-0 late in the first quarter. Jordan Travis, being the competitor that he was, took matters into his own hands and tried to use his elite ability to scramble outside the pocket.
Travis came out on the first play after the Lions took a two-possession lead and decided to run a read option, where he picked up a first down on the 16-yard scramble to advance the offense to the North Alabama 49-yard line.
Unfortunately, the signal-caller was not getting up and was grabbing his left leg. Fans and many spectators who were watching on TV had to look away. It was a very gruesome injury to see, especially to see it from Travis, who worked so hard to get where he was.
However, the Florida State quarterback received some good news on draft night as the New York Jets selected him in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. They thought that maybe the elite signal-caller could rehab and get back to his old form before the injury.
It is sad to announce that Travis informed the Jets on Wednesday afternoon that he will be retiring from the NFL. It is extremely frustrating what happened to him, but I know that the West Palm Beach native is optimistic about the next journey that he will embark on.
Please, Coach Norvell... if you are listening, bring Travis back to Tallahassee to be on the Seminoles' coaching staff!
