This could be a smart approach.

FSU SEASON OPENER VERSUS BAMA

Florida State football is taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST on ABC. The Seminoles will look to bounce back after posting a 2-10 record last season.

Quarterback Thomas Castellanos has not made this offseason any easier for Florida State, as he described not being worried about the Crimson Tide in his interview with On3's Pete Nakos. I didn't mind the quote from Castellanos, as I know he is a confident young man.

Nonetheless, the fan base started to panic since they didn't want Alabama to get bulletin board material for the matchup. However, individuals need to realize that the Crimson Tide lost to Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Michigan last year; they don't need anything to have them motivated.

With SEC media days happening, it was known that Castellanos' comments would come up in a question. This was what Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson had to say:

"All disrespect will be handled accordingly.""

I am kind of surprised that Lawson took the high road here. However, this is an Alabama that won nine games last season (in a down year) while Florida State only achieved two victories.

Lawson had a productive 2024 campaign with the Crimson Tide, where he recorded 76 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception. This is the program's leading returning tackler from a season ago, since linebacker Jihaad Campbell is now with the Philadelphia Eagles.

A quiet confidence could be dangerous for a squad that looks to prove the doubters wrong. It is a bold strategy for Castellanos to say this about Alabama, but if he finds a way to pull this off, he could well be on his way.
