Florida State football's coaching staff is looking to build on relationships with the 2027 cycle. The Seminoles have not excelled on the gridiron, as they have limped to the finish line with six losing seasons in eight years.
This is a perfect opportunity for Florida State to build connections with recruits from this cycle and continue improving its recruiting efforts from a 2026 class that ranked inside the top-15, according to 247Sports Composite.
Head football coach Mike Norvell is playing for his job security in 2026, so winning on the field is the most important thing to deal with first. However, building a future in Tallahassee is also equally as vital to the team's success.
Herb Hand has his mark on the Seminoles' offensive line
Florida State's offensive line had to be retooled this past offseason, where the Seminoles introduced several new pieces in the transfer portal. The offensive line turned out to be solid in 2025.
Assistant coach Herb Hand had to work his magic again in the transfer portal to find viable pieces in the offensive line. Luckily, they had pieces returning, such as Andre Otto, Sandman Thompson, and Jonathan Daniels, who could be significant players in 2026.
Previous offensive line coach Alex Atkins had an issue where he relied too heavily on the transfer portal instead of playing the prospects that he recruited in high school. Florida State fans don't want to see that happen to Coach Hand, too.
Florida State will be hosting Class of 2027 four-star interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams from Phenix City, Alabama, this weekend. Williams was previously committed to Alabama, but backed off his pledge last night.
The Seminoles don't have an offensive lineman committed to their class, so it would be great to secure a top-150 prospect, according to 247Sports Composite, in the fold.
