Hate to see it, FSU will lose promising young talented WR to the transfer portal

Could be a good one eventually.

Florida State has a nice group of talented and young wide receivers on the team. One of those players is freshman Jayvan Boggs, who challenged for a starting role before missing several games with an injury. Boggs finishes the season with nine receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Most of his production came late in the season against NC State, but it looks like he’ll be taking his talents to the transfer portal to find a new home:

Boggs was a late flip from UCF when Gus Malzahn took the FSU offensive coordinator role after leaving UCF. The four-star talent was formerly committed to Ohio State before deciding to stay in-state and commit to UCF. He was the No. 179 player and No. 24 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.

There’s no telling what will happen between now and when the transfer portal actually opens on January 2nd. As of now, FSU has Lawayne McCoy, Micahi Danzy, and potentially Duce Robinson returning for the 2026 season. They were the three leading receivers for the Noles last year.

FSU signed two other receivers in the 2025 class, Teriq Mallory and Tae’Shaun Gelsey, though the latter is thought to be more of a tight end. Both players are significantly taller, standing at 6’4” and 6’5”.

FSU has been entertaining some potential receiver options from the transfer portal. They’re also entertaining quarterback options, which could impact who else they attract. It’s another reason it’s important to get someone with experience and proven production, rather than relying on redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry, who hasn’t proven he can do anything yet. Boggs had potential, so it’ll be important for FSU to retain at least two of the three top receivers from last season.
