Florida State enters conference play on Friday as it takes on the Virginia Cavaliers at 7 PM EST on ESPN. The excitement is surrounding the rivalry matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, but the Seminoles need to take care of business in Charlottesville first.

As it stands, head football coach Mike Norvell has his squad in the mindset of being aggressive and dominating their opponent. You could see that approach in the season opener versus Alabama, where the Seminoles won by a score of 31-17.

The defense, being guided by coordinator Tony White, has been as advertised. This unit has made opposing offensive players think twice before making their next move.

Defensive back Earl Little Jr. spoke in the offseason about bringing the physicality to an opposing team. The former Alabama transfer didn't contribute much last year, but he seems to have turned a corner as he made the transition to the ROVER position in Coach White's defense.

The secondary has been exceptional this year, largely because of Little Jr. Maybe it should be a good idea to let Always College Football's Greg McElroy know that.

The former Alabama quarterback previewed the Florida State-Virginia contest on his YouTube channel, where he mentioned that the defensive back room for the Seminoles was one of the program's biggest question marks.

This is a crazy take since the Seminoles have productive pieces in the room, such as Earl Little Jr., Jerry Wilson, JaBril Rawls, Ashlynd Barker, Edwin Joseph, KJ Kirkland, Shyheim Brown, Charles Lester III, Quindarrius Jones, and many more options.

This was a surprising evaluation because, other than the 75-yard defensive breakdown against Kent State, the defensive back unit has played well under assistant coaches Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper. Individuals know that McElroy cannot stand the Seminoles after picking them to be out of the College Football Playoff in 2023 and then being mad that fans were unsubscribing from his channel after he continuously bashed Florida State.
