Not terrible coming off 7-17 over the past two years...but not close to elite.

Florida State completed the Early Signing Period with a record 32 signees on Wednesday. There was some thought that FSU could add another player or two between Wednesday and Friday, but they didn’t add to that total. It’s the largest prep signing class in Mike Norvell’s tenure.

The class ranks No. 14 nationally. Some of that ranking is quality, but it’s also the number of players signed, helping the overall ranking. The .8904 per player average ranks No. 20 nationally. However, FSU addressed every need they had, and the question is, will some of the projects develop into contributors?

Let’s look at each position group and assign a grade, starting with the defensive backs:

Defensive Backs- GRADE B

-Chauncey Kennon- No. 41 overall four-star

-Darryl Bell- No. 373 overall four-star

-Jordan Crutchfield- No. 461 overall three-star

Kennon is a guy who can make an impact as a freshman at cornerback. Bell was the first commit in the 2026 class who never waivered, and Crutchfield is a former Kentucky commit who flipped to Noles late in the process. The two latter players will likely be safeties in college, and have excellent length and developed physically. Crutchfield is already 200 pounds at 6'3". The two safeties aren't ELITE, but have potential to be good players in a year or two. That's the only reason this is a B grade.
