Just when you thought that it couldn't get worse for the Seminoles' women's basketball team, the unthinkable happened as junior guard Ta'Niya Latson will enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Originally, Latson announced that she would return to college basketball for her senior year. This was supposed to be good news for the Seminoles. However, this seems to have taken a dark turn for the worse.

There might be individuals that have a glossy perspective. However, there isn't a way to sugarcoat it. She averaged 25.2 points per game. Even though they had pieces such as forward Makayla Timpson and guard O'Mariah Gordon, both are seniors and will not be at Florida State next season.

The truth is that the Seminoles could be in the midst of a rebuild. Florida State faced off against the No. 3 LSU Tigers where they collapsed in the second half. Latson did everything that she could, but it was too late.

The Seminoles lost by a score of 101-71. This was tough to watch because Latson displayed her scoring abilities. I think that the program will not be able to pay her via NIL to stay with Florida State.

A scorer of her caliber will likely end up at an SEC school that has an abundance of resources. This isn't to say that the talented player is just a "money-grabber". However, you cannot blame her for putting everything on the court just to be disappointed. She has every right to be upset.

Florida State was already heading down a rebuilding year with Makayla Timpson and O'Mariah Gordon leaving the program. Hopefully, the Seminoles find some players that can shoot in the transfer portal because the All-American will be hard to replace.
