There's a good chance that 2027 in-state cornerback prospect Amare Nugent plays college football in Florida.

Naturally, FSU wants Nugent to play in Tallahassee. But the Seminoles staff will be in a battle with Miami, Florida and UCF for the services of the four-star prospect from American Heritage School in Fort Lauderdale.

Yeah, that tweet is a little confusing as the graphic says three schools are emerging for Nugent, but there are logos from five schools on there. Oh well, rest assured that FSU is definitely one of the programs in hot pursuit of Nugent and will be trying to get him on campus for the August 30th opener against Alabama.

Nugent among several FSU commits and targets on ESPN

Next week ESPN will broadcast three games from the Broward County National Football Showcase. Nugent and FSU wide receiver commit Brandon Bennett will take the field with their American Heritage teammates on Friday, August 22 against St. Joseph's Prep. (Philadelphia, PA). ESPN2 has the broadcast.

One of FSU's biggest targets in the 2027 class, offensive tackle Mark Matthews, will be in the spotlight on Saturday afternoon when St. Thomas Aquinas takes on Matei Dei (Santa Ana, CA) on ESPN. Matthews is arguably the top offensive lineman in the 2027 class. He is scheduled to attend the FSU-Alabama game on August 30.

Another FSU wide receiver commit, Jasen Lopez, will be in the Saturday night game when Chaminade-Madonna plays St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) on ESPN2.

IMG Academy will also be part of ESPN's High School Kickoff when the Ascenders play Hoover (AL) on Friday, August 22. FSU is still in the picture for four-state linebacker DQ Forkpa, who was originally expected to make a commitment in late July, but has decided to re-evaluate his options.
