FSU football coaches still have to close the deal in recruiting on Early Signing Day, but the naysayers who have nothing positive to say about Mike Norvell and his high school recruiting have been nothing but crickets over the past few weeks.

FSU coaches have added seven commits in June and five in the past week, including the top priority at QB, Jaden O'Neal.

FSU has surged to the No. 19 recruiting class nationally with 15 commits and is nowhere close to being done.

FSU has several blue-chip targets trending towards the Noles, which could put FSU among the top 10 programs nationally. Here's a list of guys FSU has predictions or is trending for:

  • Chauncey Kennon: 5-star DB
  • Jay Timmons: 4-star DB (Indiana commit)
  • Devin Carter: 4-star WR (Auburn commit)
  • Heze Kent: 4-star TE
  • Ben Mubenga: 3-star OL

There's no timeline for when most of these could flip or commit. However, if they did so in the next few weeks, FSU would likely be around No. 7 nationally with 20 total commits(provided those committed stay in the class). FSU lost a commitment on Sunday from an offensive lineman, but I'm not sure FSU fought too hard to keep him.

I've been repeating it all week, but FSU was in a similar spot last year and fell flat when the 2024 season started. The on-field product will determine how well this 2026 recruiting cycle goes. A strong 4-1 or 5-0 start to the season would likely solidify FSU's finishing among the top 10 recruiting classes.

It all boils down to how many high school players they decide to take in the class. If they go 25+ instead of signing 17-19 commits like they have on average the past few years? They will have a strong shot to shut up all of the people who have been critical of high school recruiting in the Mike Norvell era.
