FSU's disappointing 46-38 overtime loss to Virginia will likely have some ripple effects. For starters, there's no guarantee that the Seminoles will be ranked in the next AP poll (I expect they will, but probably between No. 18-22).
But the most upsetting thing to come out of Friday's loss is the likelihood that ESPN College GameDay will not be in Tallahassee next week. There hasn't been an announcement on GameDay's next destination, but the ACC Network announced this afternoon that the ACC Huddle pre-game will be airing live from outside Doak Campbell Stadium.

Instead of getting to the big dance, FSU vs. Miami gets the college football pre-game show equivalent of the NIT. Personally, I thought GameDay would come to Tallahassee even with the loss because there aren't a lot of options out there on next week's schedule. The only other game I saw that might draw their interest was an undefeated Vanderbilt at Alabama, but if the Crimson Tide loses tonight to Georgia, that's not as big of a game either.Β
There's also Texas at Florida, but that game has lost all the luster it had before the season. The only reason to tune would be to hear how many times those sad Gator fans chant "Fire Billy Napier."Β
Regardless, it looks like FSU will have to play the hand it's dealt and that is the ACC Huddle. I wonder if Jimob Fisher will be on the panel and what kind of fan response will he get from the FSU faithful?
FSU vs, Miami history in the rankings
If the Seminoles stay in the AP top 25, this will be the first time that both teams have been ranked since 2016, when the Seminoles knocked off Miami 20-19 at Hard Rock Stadium. Ironically, that game was the last time the lower-ranked team won, as FSU was ranked 23rd and Miami was 10th.Β

FSU has won two straight in Tallahassee and three of the past four overall, but an unranked FSU team has never beaten a ranked Miami team.Β
From 2014 to 2018, FSU and Miami played in one-score games, with the largest margin of victory coming in 2015, when the Seminoles beat the Hurricanes 29-24. Since then, there's only been two one-score games. FSU's 31-28 win over Miami in 2021 and a 27-20 Seminoles win in 2023. Both games were in Tallahassee.Β
