FSU football two touchdown betting underdog against rival Florida Gators
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football earned its second win this season with a 41-7 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday. I joked that oddsmakers were confused about how to post the line for the game since it didn't become available until much later than usual. Ironically, the odds were spot on at -33, with FSU winning by 34.
The odds for the final regular-season game against the rival Florida Gators are available, and FSU will be +14.5 betting underdogs on DraftKings. The over/under points total is 46.5, which implies a 31-16 win for the Gators.
It would be the first win for Billy Napier in the rivalry, but it could be the beginning of a new era as both teams will likely start a freshman quarterback. DJ Lagway and Luke Kromenhoek were the No. 2 and No. 5 quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class.
The latter earned his first career start against Charleston Southern last week after splitting reps in the last few games. Lagway was forced into action after an injury to Graham Mertz earlier in the season.
His emergence sparked a revival of Florida's season after most thought Napier would not make it to the end of the season as the head coach.
Lagway has appeared in 10 games and has a much better offensive line and running game. The Gators have won their two last games as betting underdogs. If Kromenhoek makes the start, it'll likely tell us a lot about what FSU has at quarterback going into the offseason.
Florida's defense isn't elite, but it'll be a step up from Charleston Southern. The game will start at 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN2.
