FSU football: The absolute two most overrated teams on the 2025 schedule

My first impression of the 2025 FSU football schedule was that it’s not too hard. They open with a tough game and get two bye weeks before traveling to play an inferior Virginia team.

It’s like the two weeks after the Alabama game are a prime opportunity to get healed up, develop some depth, and get ready for conference play.

Most of the teams on the schedule are projected to win between three and six games. It’s why I believe FSU will go 8-4 at worst, but I believe they will have a shot to shock some folks if the dominoes fall in their favor.

Alabama has question marks, but it probably has enough talent to mask weaknesses against most teams. Clemson is in a position to have a great season. I have to give props to Dabo for sticking to his guns. However, the other two teams that everyone has FSU losing to, Miami and Florida.

I’m not buying it. Those are the two most overrated teams on the 2025 schedule, and here’s why:

Miami had the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft last year, an experienced receiver unit, and one of the better running backs from the portal, and still lost three games, and easily could have lost FIVE games.

They lost ALL of those players and more, went to the transfer portal, and rolled the dice again, only to get a guy who had to have surgery on his arm and miss all of spring and summer. The young receivers had no experience, so they had to try to piecemeal their receiver unit out of the transfer portal.

Their offensive line unit will be good, but Carson Beck is no Cam Ward, and Miami had a new defensive coordinator with a lot of pieces from the portal. They play Notre Dame and Florida in the first few weeks of the season. If they lose one or both, I can see that team falling well below expectations.

Florida seems to be putting all of their eggs in the DJ Lagway basket. However, he can’t stay healthy, and the Gators play another murderous schedule. They will struggle to win games if he isn’t healthy, and there’s a good chance he’ll get beaten up quite a bit this season.

I think he’s overrated to begin with. Freshman James Blackman had a better freshman season than Lagway in 2017, and he wasn’t even an early enrollee, and played behind a worse offensive line.

I don’t think Florida’s gonna to win as much as some think, and I can see that seat getting hotter for Billy Napier.
