FSU football: Score prediction/analysis for Florida State versus Miami
Florida State football takes on the Miami Hurricanes on the road this Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN at 7PM EST in the Hurricanes' rented-out stadium (I have to crack the jokes while I can...).
This was supposed to be a highly-anticipated matchup in the offseason where fans were excited about seeing the transfer quarterback matchup between DJ Uiagalelei and Cameron Ward. The Seminoles and Hurricanes were battling between Ward.
The dynamic signal-caller originally elected to declare for the NFL Draft. With that decision, the Seminoles elected to pick up former Clemson and Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei. Then Ward backed off his intention and pledged to the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes.
This game looks completely different now as Uiagalelei struggled in the games that he has played in 2024. Then the veteran suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand and will likely miss the remainder of the season. As a result, the Seminoles have limped to a 1-6 record coming into this week's game.
Florida State will likely have a two quarterback rotation with redshirt freshman Brock Glenn and true freshman Luke Kromenhoek. Maybe we might even see some Trever Jackson packages...
Meanwhile, Miami's Cameron Ward has been one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football where he is in discussion of winning a Heisman Trophy. Miami is currently undefeated at 7-0 and has their best team in over twenty years.
The Hurricanes have had close calls over the past three weeks against Virginia Tech, California, and Louisville. However, this is a matchup that Miami wakes up and gets excited for.
Head football coach Mario Cristobal has several recruits coming in to visit for the contest and would likely want to embarrass the Seminoles to sell the vision of their program to others. With Florida State's offense only being able to score 21 points once this season, it could be a long night for a Seminoles' defense to stop this high-powered Miami offense.
Florida State football has found a way to beat the Miami Hurricanes three years in a row. Could the Seminoles find magic on the road?
Here are our ChopChat staff score predictions (if you care to know):
Taylor Devers: 45-17 Miami
Kelvin Hunt: 38-17 Miami
