FSU FOOTBALL KICKS OFF AGAINST ALABAMA

Florida State football will play the Alabama Crimson Tide in its 2025 season opener on Saturday, August 30th, at 3:30 PM EST on ABC in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.

The Seminoles will try to turn the page on a horrific season in 2024, where they finished with a 2-10 record. The program under head football coach Mike Norvell has to change. Some of the fan base has forgotten what transpired in the 2023 campaign, where Florida State finished with a 13-1 record.

EQUAL PRESSURE ON ALABAMA?

I realize that 2-10 should never be the standard at Florida State, which should be expected to compete for conference and national championships. However, Norvell had to make several massive changes to his coaching staff and roster (via transfer portal and recruiting ranks) in hopes of getting it back on track.

He is already on a tight leash by some individuals anyway, but what about Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer? The Crimson Tide finished with a 9-4 record last year in its first season at the helm. Alabama is used to achieving double-digit win seasons. That is the lofty expectation that legendary coach Nick Saban set for the program.

Alabama did not strike fear in some teams, where they had notable losses to Michigan, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt. All of those squads were double-digit underdogs, and the Crimson Tide were expected to win the matchups.

WORRIED ABOUT THE WRONG THING?

Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams had a sensational freshman campaign in 2024. He had an interview with Barstool's Jon Gruden, where he talked about the rematch with Vanderbilt in 2025.

While I know that he is upset about how things went with the Commodores last season, Williams needs to focus on one game at a time. The Seminoles have the potential to make Alabama work for everything they have if the crowd gets behind Florida State on national TV. The program isn't a bunch of scrubs, they have a talented roster filled with capable players.

I can understand why media access was limited with Florida State football this year. These types of quotations can be fuel for a fire if you aren't careful.
