The bye week for FSU football came at a perfect time for the Noles for several reasons. Most fans thought it was the perfect time for the FSU administration to fire Mike Norvell after an embarrassing loss against Stanford.
The other reason was that FSU was pretty banged up from an injury standpoint and needed the bye week so several players could nurse some nagging injuries and get closer to 100 percent healthy.
The latter is the only thing that’s happened so far, as FSU released its first Student-Athlete Availability Report on Thursday night. The Noles got favorable news with FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos listed as probable, though that wasn’t a surprise, as we reported he was trending towards playing on Wednesday.
Starting cornerback Jabrill Rawls and starting tight end Randy Pittman are listed as probable. Rawls missed the Stanford game and will return to the lineup. The other good news is that starting tackle Micah Pettus isn’t listed anywhere on the injury report.

Reserve players Kam Davis, Roydell Williams, Elijah Moore, and Teriq Mallory are listed as questionable.
FSU has several guys listed as out, though Stefon Thompson, Deomonte Diggs, and Jayvan Boggs have played significant snaps when healthy.
We understand that some of the fan base wanted Kevin Sperry to get the start at quarterback, but Thomas Castellanos likely gives FSU the best chance to win. Wake Forest likes to bring pressure, and that's something Kevin Sperry probably isn't ready for just yet. The mental clock looked sped up for him when Stanford brought pressure in the last game.
This is it. FSU couldn't ask for much better health-wise going into this game. If they lose this one, there's nothing left to say because it's a wrap.
