Florida State football will play the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes tonight at 7:00 PM EST on ESPN. The Seminoles are struggling to gain positive momentum this year where they have a 1-6 record.
Florida State's 2025 recruiting class has twelve commits, and it is the 32nd-best in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The coaching staff has suffered losses where four-star wide receiver Malik Clark, four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles.
The Seminoles were able to secure the commitment of four-star running back Byron Louis. However, that was the only prospect that they had acquired in a while.
Florida State fans were frustrated with head football coach Mike Norvell because it seemed like he and the coaching staff prioritized transfer prospects instead of developing through the high school ranks.
It has caused some individuals to not believe in the process, considering that the 2024 campaign has been a disaster. The transfers that were picked up this offseason were underwhelming. The thought process is that the Seminoles need to do a better job of recruiting in-house to provide depth if the transfers don't pan out.
Florida State is trying to go after three-star defensive lineman Tim Griffin from Alcovy, Georgia. The Seminoles got into the recruiting later as they offered him on October 5th when he visited for the Clemson game in Doak Campbell Stadium.
An official visit will likely get set up. However, On3's Chad Simmons reported that Griffin has Florida State, Cincinnati, and Ole Miss on his list and has a November 23rd commitment date.
He will be officially visiting Cincinnati on November 9th. Ole Miss has him officially visiting on November 30th, which is after he decides. However, that could be moving up.
The Seminoles certainly need more defensive linemen in their 2025 recruiting class, where the only prospect in the defensive trenches is four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn. It would make sense to bring Griffin in for their November 2nd matchup versus North Carolina.
