FSU GOT A GOOD ONE
Florida State football entered Thursday with its 2026 recruiting class outside the top 30. The fan base was not thrilled with how the coaching staff was addressing high school recruiting. Many thought that the recruiting class should be above a top 15 ranking because Florida State's expectations were to compete for conference and national championships.
On3 analyst Steve Wiltfong recently reported that Florida State had a shot to land quite a few prospects that were in Tallahassee this past weekend.
Wiltfong was right as Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett from Miramar, Florida, committed to Florida State on Thursday afternoon. He goes to the powerhouse American Heritage High School.

THOUGHTS ABOUT COMMITMENT
This was a massive grab by wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr., where he chose the Seminoles over Georgia and Florida. Bennett recorded 24 receptions for 509 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2024 season.
The program already has four-star wide receivers committed to the program in Efrem White and Darryon Williams. White is starting to get pursued by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Williams has heavily considered flipping to the arch-rival Florida Gators.
I wouldn't be surprised to see both White and Williams de-commit from Florida State, and the coaching staff goes in a different direction with acquiring four-star wide receiver Devin Carter (Auburn commit), even though he has already been pledged to the Seminoles before.
Nonetheless, this was a recruitment that Florida State needed to win over Florida and Georgia. I am a big fan of Bennett's skill set and his ability to separate from opposing defenders.
