FSU football is looking for a 4-star prospect to flip from the arch-rivals

This could be bad news for the Gators.

FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Florida State football ranks as the 14th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. The fan base wants to see the Seminoles creep into the top ten. Individuals want to see the coaching staff prioritize homegrown talent on the recruiting trail.

The program is benefiting from the 2025 class, where the Seminoles have had solid play from prospects such as quarterback Kevin Sperry, running back Ousmane Kromah, wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, defensive end Darryll Desir, defensive tackle Mandrell Desir, defensive tackle Kevin Wynn, and defensive back Shamar Arnoux.

Speaking of Kromah, the Georgia native is starting to catch his stride in the running game, where he has 28 rushes and 174 yards on the season. The Seminoles as a whole are averaging 336.3 rushing yards per game.

BRINGING TALENT TO TALLAHASSEE

Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn will emphasize running the football in his offense. This should be able to attract talented high school running back prospects. Although it could be viewed as a committee approach, many players see quality snaps.

One prospect that I am monitoring is four-star Carsyn Baker in the 2026 recruiting cycle. Baker is currently committed to the arch-rival Florida Gators. He will be unofficially visiting the Seminoles as they take on the Miami Hurricanes in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Head football coach Billy Napier is already on the hot seat because his squad has wet the bed over the past couple of weeks. However, Coach Napier's time in Gainesville could be finished if the Gators end up losing in this week's matchup against Texas.

Baker was heavily considering the Seminoles, and even officially visited in the summer before picking Florida. The coaching staff did have a running back prospect committed to the program in four-star Amari Thomas, but he elected to back off his pledge and commit to South Carolina.

Running back isn't a dire need for the Seminoles, but they definitely need one prospect since players such as Roydell Williams and Caziah Holmes will be graduating.
