Florida State football finished with a 2-10 record during the 2024 season. After veteran transfer DJ Uiagalelei suffered a season-ending injury versus SMU, the Seminoles had to rely on younger options such as Luke Kromenhoek and Brock Glenn.
Kromenheok has transferred to Mississippi State, while Glenn is surprisingly (by some) still on the roster. Florida State then added a transfer option Thomas Castellanos from Boston College. Castellanos has a dual-threat ability that can be useful for the Seminoles under new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
That said, Florida State benefitted from having the do-it-all Jordan Travis, who made opposing defenses pay using his legs. The jury is still out if Norvell will be successful with the program without Travis. The former Louisville transfer had been at Florida State for so long that fans watched him blossom.
Castellanos is here to make an impact for the Seminoles in 2025, but someone else will have to contribute in 2026. That is why recruiting for the position is vital. The quarterback position can make or break a program.
Florida State had five-star Brady Smigiel de-commit from its program. Washington looks to be in the driver's seat to land him. It is a bigger loss when you look at it since the Seminoles have still not acquired another signal-caller.
Florida State looks to be going all-in on two prospects: Four-stars Landon Duckworth and Bowe Bentley. Duckworth has reportedly told On3 that Ole Miss leads for his recruitment at this time.

This puts a ton of pressure on the Seminoles to land four-star Bowe Bentley from Celina, Texas. Bentley unofficially visited Florida State this past weekend for its Legacy Weekend event. However, schools like Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma.
The Seminoles have stiff competition, but there is even more pressure for head football coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn to land Bentley.
