FSU football: High school recruiting IS NOT why FSU fell off in 2024
These are the facts.

Miami's 2023 Recruiting Class
Mario Cristobal's 2023 recruiting class had 26 high school signees that ranked No. 7 nationally. They signed 17 transfers and the two combined ranked No. 8 nationally.
Here's how that class has contributed in 2024 for the Hurricanes:
High School Signees
- Francis Mauigoa-Starter
- Samson Okunlola-Injured as a freshman, working to get back
- Rueben Bain-Starter
- Mark Fletcher-Starter
- Jayden Wayne-Transfer Portal
- Robby Washington-Non-contributor
- Ray Ray Joseph-Minimal contributor
- Riley Williams-Minimal contributor
- Robert Stafford-Minimal contributor
- Damari Brown-Solid player, hurt in 2024
- Collins Acheampong-Transfer Portal
- Malik Bryant-Minimal contributor
- Josh Horton-Non-contributor
- Raul Aguirre-Minimal contributor
- Antonio Tripp-Non-contributor
- Chris Johnson-Minimal contributor
- Tommy Kinsler-Non-contributor
- Bobby Washington-Non-contributor
- Kaleb Spencer-Transfer Portal
- Emory Williams-Non-contributor
- Jackson Carver-Non-contributor
- Shemar Kirk-Non-contributor
- Demetrius Freeney-Transfer Portal
- Frankie Tinilau-Non-contributor
- Marcellius Pulliam-Transfer Portal
- Dylan Joyce-Punter
Transfers
- Jamil Burroughs-Transfer Portal
- Rocky Shelton-Off roster
- K.J. Cloyd-UDFA, off roster
- Luis Cristobal-Non-contributor
- Anthony Campbell-Non-contributor
- Tyler Harrell-UDFA, off the roster
- Ajay Allen-Minimal contributor
- Jadais Richard-Contributor
- Jaden Davis-7th Rd 2024 draft pick, off roster
- Terry Roberts-Transfer Portal
- Cam McCormick-Been in college a decade
- Branson Deen-UDFA, off the roster
- Matt Lee-7th Rd 2024 draft pick, off roster
- Francisco Mauigoa-Starter
- Thomas Gore-Transfer Portal
- Devonte Brown-Transfer Portal
- Javion Cohen-UDFA, off roster
As you can see, much of Miami's 2023 high school class hasn't contributed much at all and several are already off the roster. I was vocal about how this class ranking was propped up by taking so many high school players.
However, most will likely never become significant contributors. If we combine the high school players and the transfers, only five players from this class are making significant contributions to the 2024 team.
