FSU football: Grading new coaching hires after 2024 season
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU head coach Mike Norvell knew he needed to make changes not too long after the 2024 season got underway. The top-10 preseason Noles got off to a terrible start to the season and never recovered. It's never great to have a 2-10 season, but ultimately, I believe it resulted in a needed change to elevate the program to new heights.
The season also provided opportunities for many of the young guys to get their feet wet and show what they were capable of. Top players from the 2024 class showed potential in flashes and provided hope that good days are not far away as long as they continue to develop.
The new staff has already paid dividends with a strong close to the Early Signing Period with high school players. FSU moved from the 50s nationally to the No. 20 overall recruiting class in an area often criticized by FSU fans. Could that be a sign of things to come?
That's the hope, along with excellent player development. Mike Norvell went with two well-respected coordinators who have experience at other Power Four programs. Those coordinators brought some of their guys, which should ease the transition overall for the players. Let's look at the new hires and give out some grades.
