The former Tennessee product was the final defensive line prospect taken from the portal in the Winter window. Jayson Jenkins is a massive guy at 6'6" and 280 pounds.
He was in the rotation at Tennessee and likely would have had an increased role in 2024, but he left for the opportunity to be a guy at FSU.
He played in 214 snaps and graded favorably against the run and the pass. He's another guy they can rotate inside and outside depending on the alignment of the multiple front in Tony White's 3-3-5 defense.
His versatility and two years of eligibility remaining, coupled with his potential, make him an impressive part of the transfer portal recruiting class.
Not only can he likely help immediately in 2025, but he could be a guy they depend on in 2026 should he be retained instead of declaring for the NFL Draft. The two years of eligibility again help make up for some recruiting misses at the defensive end position in recent years.
