Some fans looked at this addition from UNC and rolled their eyes because he has little to no production outside of the bowl game he played in at the end of the year. However, he looked like he belonged in that bowl game against UConn, leading the team with nine tackles.

LaVallee is a player FSU recruited out of high school, so they have a relationship, and he has a younger brother graduating in the 2026 class. I know someone who has a son on the UNC team and knows him personally. They have seen him at practice and co-signed that he has the potential to be a player in the future.

He has three years of eligibility remaining and will help fill the void of some previous recruiting misses at the position by Randy Shannon. He doesn't have to be an impact guy in 2025 but could develop into an important player for the position in 2026 and beyond.

Then again, he might be a good fit in this 3-3-5 scheme. It's a good take for where the linebacker room is right now. Who knows, his brother might evolve into a player in his own right, and having Caleb could help with that.
