The former Ole Miss product was the next addition from the portal, and it was a massive get. Literally and figuratively, Pettus might be the best offensive lineman FSU has had on its roster in six or seven years.
Put it this way. Pettus has the size and tools to be an NFL Draft pick, and FSU hasn't had an offensive lineman drafted since the 2018 NFL Draft.
Pettus will be an instant starter at one of the tackle positions. He's a mauler who loves to pancake defenders. He's massive with good length and a thick frame that allows him to be effective in run and pass blocking.
One knock on Pettus is his consistency and getting called for penalties. However, referees won't call a penalty every play, but former FSU offensive linemen would allow opposing defenders to blow by with little to no effort. I'll take that trade all day long.
