FSU football hasn't landed a top-10 class in recent years but has landed some nice individual blue-chip talent. Players like Hykeem Williams, Landon Thomas, Amaree Williams, and AZ Thomas played significant snaps as true freshmen over the past few years.

Williams has battled injuries, Thomas and Williams will play significant snaps in 2025, and Thomas will likely be a first or second-round NFL Draft selection in a few months.

FSU landed a few top 200 players in its 2025 high school recruiting class, but one likely stands out above the rest when it comes to contributing as a freshman. The crazy part is he's not an early enrollee, and may likely become the starting running back before the 2025 season concludes.

It's blue-chip running back Ousmane Kromah, the No. 76 player and No. 4 running back nationally via composite rankings made the 247 All-Impact Team.

That team consists of freshmen who can come into college and play right away.

The running back position is one of the easier transitions from high school to college for top players. It's an instinctive position, and if guys are physically ready, usually can make an impact as freshmen. Think Dalvin Cook for FSU a decade ago.

Kromah is physically ready, listed at 6'0" and 205 pounds. He runs violently and can catch the ball out of the backfield much better than one would think. FSU will emphasize running the ball after not having a competent running game in 2024.

Kromah will join this mix this summer after graduating high school, and I expect him to get carries early. FSU returns running backs like former blue-chip players Kam Davis, Sam Singleton, Caziah Holmes, and Micahi Danzy. Jaylin Lucas will likely join the mix, but Kromah provides an excellent blend of physicality and speed you can't keep off the field.

Kromah didn't flip from Georgia to FSU to sit on the bench in season one. I'd look to start hearing his name from practice reports as soon as he arrives on campus. Kromah was one of eight ACC players to make the list.
