COLLEGE GAMEDAY POTENTIAL

Florida State football will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide for its 2025 season opener in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium at 3:30 PM EST on ABC.

The Seminoles' fan base thought there might be an opportunity for College GameDay personality Lee Corso to showcase himself on his final show in Tallahassee. The reasoning behind that was because Corso played college football at Florida State, and it could have been a storybook ending to his amazing career.

I wish that I had better news, but College GameDay announced on Tuesday that it would be heading to Columbus, Ohio, for the Ohio State-Texas matchup.

THE HARSH REALITY

Florida State football fans have had the worst luck over the last ten years. The Seminoles were left out of the College Football Playoff in 2023 after being undefeated, superstar quarterback Jordan Travis went down with an injury, and they suffered one of their worst records in program history in 2024.

This isn't to mention the fact that the Alabama Crimson Tide finished with a 9-4 record in their first season with new head football coach Kalen DeBoer. I understand that College GameDay chose the Ohio State-Texas matchup because this is a top-ten showdown that many want to see. Plus, he had his first headgear selection with Ohio State.

I just thought that since FOX was already going there for Big Noon Kickoff and the fact that Corso graduated from Florida State, it would prompt them to head to Tallahassee. Nonetheless, I realize that the national public (especially ESPN "SEC Central") doesn't like the idea of Florida State hosting College GameDay after the 2-10 record last year.
