It's been a long time since it felt like that in a FSU game

It was surreal to think about how I felt watching the FSU game against Alabama on Saturday. The opening drive from Alabama didn’t faze me because I could see the defense was totally different, even though it wasn’t the result we wanted.

My biggest concerns were on offense because of their performance last year, and when FSU answered with a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive, including a key third-down and long conversion to tie the game, it just felt different.

FSU scored on its next two possessions to go up 17-7 at the half, but failed to capitalize on its opening possession in the third quarter. Normally, I’d think, here we go, Alabama’s about to make a run. However, it was FSU who got a turnover on downs and scored quickly to make it 24-7. It was such a contrast to last year’s team, and it reflected in the stadium energy on television.

It was like I heard the War Chant all game long, and I envy those who got to witness that atmosphere in person. That was a special game, and now I think everyone can get on board with different expectations for the rest of the season. Here are five exciting things we learned from the upset win over Alabama.
