FSU football coaches have a solid foundation with its 2026 high school recruiting class. They have six commitments, though five committed before several coaching changes took place near the end of the 2024 season. One of those commits, four-star safety Darryl "Tre" Bell III, says his recruitment is still open.
Welcome to college football in 2025, folks! To be fair, Bell committed on October 10, 2023, nearly a year and a half ago as a sophomore in high school, and only holds five offers outside of FSU.
Plus, he has a new safeties coach, Evan Cooper, joining Tony White from Nebraska. Bell is the No. 298 player nationally and the No. 23 safety. He is listed as 6'0" and 175 pounds, and Bell visited FSU three times since committing, including twice last year.
It could be a variety of things influencing Bell to post this on his social media. FSU had a 2-10 season. He may be trying to create more interest from other schools since he has a low number of offers based on his recruitment ranking. Some guys like attention, and the new coaches could have told him to look around based on their evaluations. Who knows, but I wanted to provide that context for folks who see the post and wonder what's going on.
It's still early in the process and FSU will have tons of guys on campus this spring. If Bell doesn't make it to campus at any point this spring, it might be a safe bet to say he may have been told to look at other schools.
